Happy Nappy Duo™
The Happy Nappy Duo™ swim diaper is the most advanced reusable swim diaper we make. It’s a complete double diaper system in a single garment, with a silver-lined inner layer, so your baby needs nothing else underneath at the pool or the beach.
If you’re getting ready for your baby’s very first swim, you might not know that a regular diaper won’t work in the water. It soaks up the water around it, swells, gets heavy and pulls down. The Duo is made to stay snug instead. It holds in fecal leaks and lets water pass in and out, so it never gets waterlogged.
If you’re looking for swim diapers newborn babies can wear from their very first swim, the Duo starts at Small (0-3 months) and comes in seven sizes up to 4-5 years. We size by measurement rather than by number, so even if you’d normally pick swim diapers size 1, measure your baby first. Lay them flat, ideally not straight after a feed, and measure around the tummy and the fullest part of the thigh.
The best swim diaper is the one that sits snugly at the waist and thighs, with room for a finger around the seal and no red marks. Our size guide will help you find that fit, and then you can choose a print your little one loves from the range below.
Happy Nappy Duo™ FAQs
Fortunately not. The Duo is a swim diaper and an under diaper in one, and many swim schools accept it as a double diaper system on its own, so there’s nothing extra to buy or pack.
We should be upfront, though: it doesn’t hold urine, and no swim diaper does. Keep your baby in a regular diaper for the trip to the pool, then change into the Duo just before you get in.
The Duo adds a second, inner layer. The original Happy Nappy™ swim diaper is a single layer designed to contain fecal leaks, and the Duo gives you a similar snug fit with a silver-lined layer inside.
That silver lining has been tested to help neutralize germs found in fecal matter, including E. coli, for an added layer of hygiene.
Yes. You wash it and wear it again, swim after swim, rather than throwing it away after one use like a disposable.
It lasts longest if you hand wash it in cool water and dry it out of direct sunlight. We know a soiled diaper sometimes needs the machine. If it does, use a cold cycle with an enzyme-free (non-bio) detergent, though frequent machine washing can shorten its life.
Never a regular diaper, because it would swell and pull down in the water. Some swim schools ask for a double diaper system with a single-layer swim diaper. That usually means a disposable swim diaper or one of the under diapers from our Double Layer Diaper System worn underneath.
